Crochet Lavender Brooch

Lavender pattern from 沙沙果果, read on to see what I did differently to turn it into a brooch.

Supplies & Tools

Yarn	5-ply Combed Cotton Yarn - 8.2g Purple - 3g Green - 1g each
Hook	2.5mm
Hardware	12cm Floral Stem/ Bamboo Skewer × 3 25mm Brooch Pin
Size	13 cm

Abbreviations (US)

DC	Double Crochet
HDC	Half Double Crochet
SC	Single Crochet
SS	Slip Stitch
*A* × B	Repeat “A” for a number of B times

Picot

1. CH up to stated {3/4/5}
2. Insert into front loop and side horizontal bar of the stitch before the CH-up {or the 3rd bar of 1st CH}
3. SS or SC {Personally prefer SS, SC gives a bulkier finish}

Pattern

• CH 36
• In 3rd CH from hook, (2 DC)
• *DC, 3pic* × 10
• *DC, 4pic* × 10
• *DC, 5pic* × 10
• (2 DC)
• HDC
• SS

Assembly

Floral stems and bamboo skewers are usually over 20cm, cut to 12-15cm.

Wrap flower first

Note of the side you are rolling before pasting.

• With Right Side facing in, flower is more budding; you'd be wrapping clockwise
• With Right Side facing out, flower is more blooming; you'd be wrapping anticlockwise

Apply glue to one tip of the stem, paste on the beginning 3-DC and curl a little to get more area secured.

Begin rolling only after the glue at the tip has hardened. Wrap around the stem at a slight angle, do not leave too much gap in between.
Apply glue at the end of the flower, and also start to wrap green at the same time.

Wrap down to the end of the stem (or preferred length), and secure yarn with glue again.

Glue on the brooch pin, and then wrap green yarn over.
