Changes

When I chanced upon the pattern of a Ruyi charm, I knew I had to make this...
Anyone who had crocheted flat hearts before would find the pattern familiar; there will be a group of many stitches at two ends. And I just kept ending up with really large holes that the embroidery couldn't even cover..
So I used a different approach..

Instead of beginning with a chain foundation and groups of many stitches on the first and last stitch, which would give me large holes as shown in the clip, I began with a magic ring, worked the first 11 stitches in there, and then crochet foundation DC till the next group. I made increases in the same spots; making 2 (or 3) DCs in a base, and 11 stitches in the last base.
I guess because the base is not as stretchable as a chain, the 2nd group of 11 stitches didn't end up with a big hole.

There are other methods that involve more than one round of stitches. As I was satisfied with the size of the pattern, I only wanted to work one round. Whatever works~
