With Lunar New Year falling quite late this year, I felt like I had a bit of extra time to squeeze in one last project. I’ve actually been putting off making anything lion dance-related for the longest time. All those intricate layers and details looked so leceh (troublesome) and challenging!

But my "crojo" has been quite high lately, so I figured, why not? This will be my final project before I "close shop" for the Year of the Snake.

I’ve been saving various lion dance patterns on and off in my pattern stash for a while now, but I usually don't dive into them immediately. When I finally sat down to dig through my "to-make" vault, I realized it was a bit of a minefield. Some instructions were not very well written, and others were clearly just fake, AI-generated nonsense that wouldn't actually work in real life.

In the end, I didn't follow one single source. I ended up "remixing" a few different patterns, adjusted and refined the details and proportions until it felt just right.

And I love it.
